Dr Shawn Foo's Background
Shawn graduated with a medical degree from the University of Liverpool (UK) before undertaking postgraduate medical training in Manchester, England. He then spent 6 months working in cardiology at the National Heart Centre in Singapore before relocating to New Zealand in 2014. Shawn has worked at several New Zealand public hospitals including North Shore, Auckland City and Middlemore Hospitals.
He has a specialist interest in Cardiac Electrophysiology with 13 peer-reviewed publications on the topic and in 2020 Shawn received his Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Electrophysiology. Shawn is continuing his education further and is pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) on cardiac implantable electronic device use, implant trends and outcomes in New Zealand. Shawn completed 18 months of clinical fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
A fluent Mandarin speaker, Shawn is pleased to be able to communicate with Chinese patients in their native language, helping them to understand the details of their care.
Outside of work Shawn is a talented basketball player and was the captain of his University’s team.
